The World Chess Federation (FIDE) confirmed the tournament of contenders for the World Title will be held simultaneously in two countries.

Four of the eight participants will compete in Baku, the others, including Armenian GM Levon Aronian, will play in the other country, which has not yet been selected for the tournament.

Seven of the eight participants have been named: Levon Aronian (Armenia), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Gata Kamsky (U.S.), Boris Gelfand (Israel) and Temur Radjabov (Azerbaijan).
