YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Monday received Spanish Senate member Urko Aiartza Azurtza, who was accompanied by Chairman Eduardo Lorenzo Ochoa of the European Friends of Armenia organization.

Nalbandian underscored the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of bilateral relations. In addition, he welcomed the Spanish senator’s visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, and noted that such visits enable to get first-hand information about the Karabakh conflict and the current situation on location.

Senator Azurtza, for his part, stressed that visiting Armenia and Artsakh was very important to him, and assured that he will continue his efforts to further deepen Armenian-Spanish collaboration.

In turn, Nalbandian briefed the Spain Senate member on the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries (Russia, US, and France) toward finding a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on Armenia-European Union cooperation.
