YEREVAN. – The Madrid Principles are the basic document for the settlement of Karabakh conflict, French Ambassador to Armenia said.

The principles contain three points one of which calls to refrain from use of force and threat of force, Henri Reynaud said during a press conference on Friday commenting on recent Azerbaijani infiltration attempt at the line of contact.

This is the reason the co-chair have urged the parties to refrain from force starting from 2009.

“In terms of the importance of apoint on  non-use of force or threat of force,. France repeatedly called on both parties to refrain from the aggravation of the situation on the frontline,” the Ambassador added.

Referring to the fact that the co-chairs always appeals to both parties, when it is obvious which side violates ceasefire, Reynaud said:  “The diplomacy has its own rules, and senior officials express their opinions in  compliance with these rules.  There are rules of the game that are accepted by all countries, including the OSCE. I understand the question, but the rules of diplomacy are not the rules of the media”.

Azerbaijani has recently made another sabotage and infiltration attempt at the line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh, in the direction of Qarvachar.
