YEREVAN. – Against the backdrop of Armenia’s aspirations for Eurasian Union accession, noteworthy souvenirs have appeared in the capital city Yerevan Vernissage—which is a large open-air market that mainly features a collection of traditional Armenian art works, and primarily for tourists—Aravot daily reported.

“Aravot’s reporter has discovered this souvenir with Russia’s flag and the portrait of RF [Russian Federation] President Vladimir Putin.

“This souvenir, which depicts the president of the ‘strategic ally’ country [of Armenia], is sold for 25,000 drams [approx. $60]; [but] sometimes discounts are made, too.

“Our reporter found out from the seller that primarily the Russians who arrive in Armenia buy the souvenir with Putin’s portrait. Recently, however, the residents of Armenia have also started to buy [it],” Aravot wrote.
