YEREVAN. – In 2013, the number of domestic tourist trips has significantly increased in Armenia.

Mekhak Apresyan, who is Head of the Tourism and Economic Development Department at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to him, in 2013, around 670,000 residents of Armenia had decided to spend their vacation in the country, and this number is 30 percent more than the 2012 indicator.

The social package for junior and mid-level government officials, and which is in operation since 2012, also has played its role here.

In the case when in 2012, a total of 25,000 people spent their vacations either in Armenia or in Karabakh and within the framework of the aforementioned social package, this number climbed to 60,000 in the year past.

“There is an increase in [vacation] departures not solely in Armenia, but also in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Apresyan assured.
