YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, together with several dozen citizens, on Thursday submitted a letter to the Office of the President, demanding President Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation.

“With this public step of ours, we want you [President Sargsyan] to take the sole reasonable step; that is, give up power,” Hayrikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, addressing the President.

The NSU members noted that they are submitting the letter on Thursday, when the President is on vacation, since Sargsyan would not receive them in any case.

Paruyr Hayrikyan and his supporters are preparing to hold protests in the future, and the NSU leader said he may even start a hunger strike.
