YEREVAN. – The barley seeds, which are left over from the initial quantity which the regional halls had submitted, will be distributed to the farmers.

Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan told the aforementioned to reporters on Friday.

“We will distribute this surplus to the farms, according to their requirement. [But] we will not give it for free; the farmers will reimburse after receiving the autumn harvest,” Karapetyan said.

The minister also noted that winter seeds will not be imported this year.

“This year we will purchase from our local producers because this program has begun in 2011, we have the corresponding quantities, and we will make purchase from our farms which are engaged in seed breeding, and we will charge these amounts in the fall, after the gathering of harvest,” Karapetyan noted.

The minister added that they have reduced the price of the seeds of the grain being allocated.
