A street in Turkey’s Bitlis city will be named in honor of renowned American-Armenian writer William Saroyan.
The Bitlis City Council approved the name changes for five streets in the historical city, reported the French-Armenian Nouvelles d’Arménie magazine.
One of these streets will be named after Saroyan, whose forebears had left this place before 1915.
Accordingly, the main street of Bitlis’ Sapkor district, where the Saroyan family lived, will be named after William Saroyan.
