YEREVAN. – Russian PM's upcoming visit to Armenia proves Russia has an intention to deepen relations with Armenia, economist Gagik Makaryan said.

Makaryan, chairman of the union of employers, pointed out Armenian resorts as an attractive destination for Russian tourists.

“The government should encourage subsidies to entrepreneurs so that they could get loans at low interest rates. This will enable Armenian businessmen to export wine, water, canned food and cheese to Russia,” he said during a press conference on Monday.

Economist Tatul Manaseryan believes the government should focus on other areas, too. He called on the Cabinet to create more opportunities for defense industry and construction.

“For example, Turkish companies are working in Russia based on interstate agreements, while Armenians are working almost illegally,” he said.

The economist suggested that the issue should be included in the agenda of a meeting between Russian and Armenian PMs.
