The buildup on the Georgian Military Road, which connects Georgia to Russia at Darial Gorge, is cleared completely, and the specialists have commenced the road repair.

Georgian News reported the aforesaid citing the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Last week’s landslide at Darial Gorge had blocked the road traffic and, in addition, the Kazbegi-Upper Lars customs and passport control checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border also had suffered from this natural disaster.

According to the ministry data, a two-kilometer stretch of the road is especially damaged, and special equipment is needed to restore this section.

“In parallel, work is being done to have the Terek [River] return to its natural bed and to clean the Lars checkpoint,” the Ministry statement specifically reads.

Past week, the specialists had stated that it will take at least two weeks to complete the road repair.
