The health condition of Russian-Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, who is under detention in Moscow, is getting worse, his close friend Artur Safaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Hayrapetyan’s attorneys are working to commute his restraining order by September 15. The investigator will enter the court with a motion by that day, [and] we are preparing to do everything on that day for his release [from prison],” Safaryan said.

In his words, Hayrapetyan can no longer remain in custody because he is not even given the necessary medications.

“Levon Hayrapetyan does not receive a professional [medical] treatment; he treats himself. In addition, he needs special courses of treatment. The attorneys are doing everything so that at least a [respective] medical commission is set up [to evaluate his condition].

“The most important thing for us at this point is his health condition, since the charges [against him] are concocted, [and] they will be disproved in time; but his health will not be restored,” Artur Safaryan stated.

Levon Hayrapetyan, 65, was detained in a Moscow airport on July 15 and subsequently arrested. On July 24, the Russian Federation Investigation Committee brought two criminal charges against him: embezzlement or misuse, and money laundering. To note, even though Hayrapetyan has health problems, he is still kept in prison.
