The sentences of two criminals, who were condemned to death, were carried out, Interfax news agency reported citing the Japanese Ministry of Justice.

One of the executed criminals was a 59-year-old former member of a Japanese mafia, and he was found guilty of the murder of three persons. The second man was a 56-year-old former taxi driver, who was found guilty of killing five persons.

At present, Japan has 125 prisoners who are sentenced to death.

Capital punishment in Japan is carried out by hanging without prior notice to the accused, and without witnesses.
