YEREVAN. – The Russian airline companies have advantages over Armenian companies in the flights to Armenia, Air Armenia airline company Executive Director Arsen Avetisyan told reporters on Friday.

In his words, an $8.4 tax is levied from Air Armenia per passenger, whereas solely 20 percent of this amount is levied for the Russian airline companies.

“It turns out that, on the account of taxes, the Russian competitors can ask for about $10 less than us for a return flight,” Avetisyan added.

As per the Air Armenia chief, however, it is very important that state agencies responsible for civil aviation have taken note of this, and they will endeavor to achieve a level playing field during negotiations.
