In cooperation with the University of Cambridge, the Education and Science Ministry of Armenia and the Ayb Educational Foundation are starting a new initiative: National Project for Excellence in Education.

President Serzh Sargsyan stated the abovementioned at Saturday’s official opening of the Gyumri Technology Center.

“The project aims to underscore the teachers’ role in society, make the profession of teaching appealing, direct the best human resources to education, and form an institution of competitive teachers,” the President said.

In Sargsyan’s words, the project will be implemented by an Armenian-language educational system that meets international standards. The President also informed that over the course of the next ten years, around 2,000 teachers of international qualifications are planned to be certified within the framework of this project.

“Such teachers will become the executors of changes, who will serve an example for the new generation.

“A resource-rich center, which will assist the entire teaching community of Armenia, [also] will be established under this project,” Serzh Sargsyan added.
