Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended, in Dilijan city, the deliberations on the initial version of the Dilijan Development Program, which is designed within the framework of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) technical program.

Abrahamyan noted that this development program is the second of the projects to be designed for four Armenian cities: Gyumri, Vanadzor, Dilijan, and Jermuk; the Gyumri program was introduced first.

“We underscore a balanced regional development and, in this context, we also have proposed to develop programs for the aforementioned four cities. The duration of the urban development/investment projects will be ten years,” the PM noted.

Abrahamyan also expressed his satisfaction to ADB for the ongoing cooperation in several domains.

“I’m confident that we [Armenia] will be able to strengthen our institutional capacity and improve our infrastructure,” the Premier noted.

In turn, ADB Armenia Resident Representative David Dole thanked the Armenian government for giving ADB the opportunity to participate in the designing of the abovementioned development programs, and noted that the Dilijan Development Program will be updated and presented to the public.

Asian Development Bank Project Manager Cesar Llorens, for his part, informed that the objective of the Dilijan Development Program is to achieve a sustainable economic development of the city.

The discussants also exchanged views.

Subsequently, PM Hovik Abrahamyan toured the Dilijan Training and Research Center of the Central Bank of Armenia.
