YEREVAN. – In Armenia, people are expecting economic rather than constitutional reforms, Prosperous Armenia MP Elinar Vardanyan said.

Problems in the country are not connected to the Constitution, and their solutions do not require constitutional reforms, she said during debates on the reforms held in the Armenian parliament.

In her opinion, the question of constitutional reform has been raised artificially, without justification.

It was not long ago when representatives of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia stated transition to a parliamentary system of government is unacceptable and dangerous under the current situation of no war, no peace.

“What has changed? Danger of war has gone?” she wonders.

Elinar Vardanyan stressed that public hearings on the issue were purely artificial and were held in the regional administration buildings and carried out with the participation of the local officials.
