John Bass has been appointed Ambassador of the United States (US) to Turkey.

A total of 98 from the 100 US senators taking part in the respective vote cast their ballots in Bass’ favor, reported Milliyet daily of Turkey.

Ever since his nomination to this position by US President Barack Obama, John Bass has declared that, during his tenure as ambassador, he will work towards the normalization of Turkey-Armenia, Turkey-Israel, and Turkey-Cyprus relations.  

It is noted that Bass, 50, began his diplomatic career in 1988, he held important positions in crisis zones, and he served as the US Ambassador to Georgia from 2009 to 2012.
