Scottish voters rejected independence with 55.3 percent "against" and 44.7 percent "for" in a vote that had an unprecedented turnout of 84.59 percent.

In his speech following the referendum, UK Prime Minister David Cameron said now it is time for our United Kingdom to come together, and to move forward.

“Now we must look forward, and turn this into the moment when everyone – whichever way they voted – comes together to build that better, brighter future for our entire United Kingdom,” he siad.

As reported earlier, First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond conceded defeat after the independence referendum voting results.
