YEREVAN. – In the run-up to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, over forty bikers from different nationalities will set out from Los Angeles, USA, and arrive in the Armenian Genocide Memorial, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, on April 24, 2015; that is, on the day of the 100th anniversary of the genocide.

“Armenian Motorcycle Riders Club” Founding Member Harout Bogaryan stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Thursday.

“We have selected two routes [towards Armenia], only one of which we will have to carry out.

“First is riding the motorcycles through Europe, which is somewhat problematic, since we will start riding in the month of March, whereas the weather is terribly bad at that time.

“Second, one month ago, all the countries were saying to us, ‘All right, there is no problem; you may come and freely pass from border to border.’ [But] now, these promises have slightly reduced,” Bogaryan said.

He noted that if they cannot reach Armenia via Europe, they will fly to Georgia with their motorcycles, and head for Armenia from there.

In his words, in order to make it clear for the people as to the objective of their initiative, they are planning on wrapping the Armenian national flags with black ribbons and place them on the bikers’ motorcycles.

“And there will be one motorcycle ahead of us, on which there will be pictures depicting the Armenian Genocide,” Harout Bogaryan stated.

He added that their main objective is to motivate the people.
