YEREVAN. – Political relations and strategic ties between Armenia and Russia are developing, Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said.

Deputy Speaker of Armenian parliament received Mikhail Krotov, adviser to Russian parliament speaker, and Oleg Lebedev, chairman of parliamentary Commission on CIS and Eurasian integration.

Sharmazanov noted that the ties between the two countries have developed and deepened, and the role of parliaments is crucial. He praised the work of the delegates of the two countries in international parliamentary structures.

Speaking about the Karabakh settlement, Sharmazanov praised the efforts of Russia into finding peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group. Deputy Speaker also raised the issue of Armenia's joining the Eurasian Economic Union.

In turn, Mikhail Krotov said that their goal is to discuss the specific format and ways of cooperation at parliamentary level.
