YEREVAN. – The main objective of Armenia’s 2012-2016 Strategic Plan for Judicial Reforms is to ensure in the country a legal system and a judiciary that meet the standards of a modern legal state.

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Galust Sahakyan noted the aforesaid Thursday at his talk with Nils Muižnieks, the Council of Europe (CoE) Commissioner for Human Rights.

Sahakyan stated that the implementation of human rights reforms in Armenia was consistent, a significant progress was achieved in the fulfillment of the country’s respective obligations, and deep reforms were implemented.

The parliament leader underscored the full implementation of the Armenia-Council of Europe 2012-2014 Action Plan.

The NA speaker also highlighted Armenia’s Human Rights Protection National Strategy Action Plan, in terms of strengthening the human rights guarantees in the country, and noted that this will become the Government of Armenia roadmap for the next three years.
