YEREVAN. – The non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) has its own presidential candidate—PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan—, and it has not concealed and is not concealing this.

PAP National Assembly (NA) Faction Secretary Naira Zohrabyan stated the aforesaid at Thursday’s NA briefing with reporters.

In her view, Armenia’s problems have nothing to do with the Constitution.

Zohrabyan also informed that she had spoken, in Strasbourg, France, with members of the Venice Commission, who had noted that a change in the system of governance has nothing to do with democracy.

“The problem is not in the form of governance, but rather [in] the absence of political will,” she added.

Zohrabyan also noted that the PAP does not plan on taking part in the discussions of the concept of Armenia’s constitutional amendments, since these deliberations aim to divert the people’s attention.

“[But] one thing is clear: the [incumbent] authorities must leave. The establishment shall not be given a chance to reproduce by way of constitutional amendments,” Naira Zohrabyan concluded.
