YEREVAN. – Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan was received by President of Iran Hassan Rouhani on Monday during his two-day official visit to the Islamic Republic.

PM Abrahamyan noted that official visit to Iran will contribute to intensification of Armenian-Iranian economic ties and will attract new investments.

“Armenia highly appreciates close and friendly relations with the Islamic Republic that are based on century-long friendship between the nations. Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high level and continue to develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust,” Abrahamyan said.

President Rouhani, for his part, said the visit will contribute to deepening of Armenia-Iran friendly relations in different areas. The Islamic Republic is ready to assist Armenian side's initiatives and to carry out joint projects.

The sides noted importance of boosting cooperation in a number of areas, especially energy, agriculture and culture.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Armenia's membership to the Eurasian Economic Union is an opportunity to be a link between the union members and foreign business communities. The Prime Minister pointed at creation of favorable conditions for investments in Armenia.

Iran's president praised the role of the Armenian community in development of different spheres.

The interlocutors discussed the settlement of Karabakh conflict and regional challenges.

Armenia is pursuing a peaceful settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, Abrahamyan said. The sides stressed importance of peaceful settlement of regional conflicts and the need to ensure regional stability.

Hovik Abrahamyan conveyed Pesident Sargsyan's invitation to attend the commemoration events in Yerevan on April 24 next year.

Hassan Rouhani, for his part, conveyed his warm greetings to the Armenian people.
