Within the framework of his official visit to Jordan, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday was hosted by the capital city Amman Municipality.  

In his remarks, Amman Mayor Akel Biltaji reflected on the Armenian-Arab ties and friendship stressing that Armenians are highly skilled and qualified professionals in all domains. Subsequently, and on behalf of the 3.5 million residents of the Jordanian capital city, Biltaji presented to Sargsyan the key to the City of Amman adding that this key symbolizes the eternal friendship between Amman and Yerevan, which have become sister cities.        

The President, for his part, spoke about the Armenian-Jordanian high-level talks that were held within the framework of his official visit to Jordan, and stressed that he is also happy with the Armenia-Jordan friendship. In addition, Sargsyan thanked the Arab people for saving the lives of and providing shelter for the hundreds of thousands of children of the Armenian nation, which was subjected to genocide at the turn of the 20th century.

“Today I am doubly happy that Amman and Yerevan have become sister cities. We look forward to seeing a delegation, led by the mayor of Amman, in [Armenian] capital city Yerevan,” Serzh Sargsyan added.                

On the evening, the President of Armenia met with representatives of the Armenian community of Jordan.
