YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Friday received a delegation led by Russian Federation Council member Nikolai Ryzhkov, who is also Co-Chairman of the Russian–Armenian Commission on Interparliamentary Cooperation.

The delegation is in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan along the lines of the 25th session of the said commission.

The President expressed a conviction that the aforementioned session will contribute to the further strengthening of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership, and he highly praised Ryzhkov’s personal involvement in the enhancement of Armenia-Russia allied relations.

Nikolai Ryzhkov, for his part, stressed that urgent and important matters, which are aimed at the further deepening of interstate relations, are discussed at the meetings of the Russian–Armenian Commission on Interparliamentary Cooperation. And he expressed satisfaction with the results of the 25th session.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the prospects for the development of Armenian-Russian collaboration within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Serzh Sargsyan and Nikolai Ryzhkov highlighted that Armenia’s recent signing of the EEU accession treaty is in the interests of the two countries.
