Human Rights Defender of Armenia Karen Andreasyan’s three-day working visit to Berlin has wrapped up.

In the German capital city, the Armenian ombudsman visited the Bundestag (Parliament) and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, and met with several senior officials of the country.

Andreasyan also held talks with the representatives of a number of human rights NGOs in Germany, and members of the Armenian community in Berlin.

In addition, Armenia’s human rights defender met with Christoph Strässer, the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

The commissioner highly praised the activities by Armenia’s ombudsman and his staff, and expressed willingness to deepen cooperation between the two offices. Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan, for his part, expressed confidence that his visit to Berlin will give new impetus to the deepening of the Armenia-Germany partnership and promote the implementation of Armenian-German joint programs in the protection of human rights.
