“Tourism plays a crucial role. People are needed for tourism, and I propose various tourism companies to make use of Armenia’s ‘open skies’ policy and organize tours to the country.”

The US Ambassador to Armenia, John Heffern, announced the aforementioned at Friday’s official launch of the Black Sea Silk Road Corridor (BSSRC) interregional tourism route, which encompasses Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, and Greece.

“We have waited a long time for this day. Once the project starts, it will become apparent that these four countries have more similarities than differences. The project is a very important regional Initiative,” Heffern noted.

The American diplomat added that he has been to all the regions of Armenia and seen marvelous historical monuments everywhere.

“Thanks to the project, these monuments will become accessible worldwide; this is the second important aspect of the project,” John Heffern stressed.

The BSSRC is a 3,000-kilometer route which starts from Thessaloniki, Greece, and ends in Meghri, Armenia, and includes around 150 scenic spots.
