YEREVAN. – A high-level delegation will arrive in Armenia from Cyprus on April 24, 2015; that is, on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Yiannakis Omirou, stated about the abovementioned Thursday in the National Assembly of Armenia. He added that his country’s authorities attach great importance to this anniversary.

Omirou informed that the genocide centenary will be commemorated in Cyprus, too.

“We already have invited the Armenian parliamentary colleagues to Cyprus, where we also will hold several events,” he noted.

Cyprus was the first European country which, in 1975, formally recognized the Armenian Genocide. In addition, it was the first country to raise this matter at the United Nations General Assembly.
