YEREVAN. – The future of Armenia’s trade privileges with the US uncertain under the conditions of Armenia’s Eurasian integration, in terms of accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Jewellery Company of Armenia (JCA) CEO Nelly Harutyunyan told about the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

As per Harutyunyan, her company benefits from the GSP system, whereby the US agrees to purchase up to 3,451 name products from 129 countries, including Armenia, without customs duty.

“[But] we don’t know to this day whether the US will agree to extend this preferential procedure in our country in 2015,” she stated.

According to the JCA CEO, the company is trying to get an answer to this question through the US Embassy in Armenia and the American Chamber of Commerce.

If the aforesaid privileges are extended, the already paid customs duties will be retroactively returned to the exporters.
