YEREVAN. – The customs interests of Armenia were taken into account during the process of the country’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Deputy Minister of Finance Suren Karayan stated the aforementioned, at Wednesday’s meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, as he presented the treaty on Armenia’s EEU accession.

As per the deputy minister, the list of about 750 products, for which Armenia will temporarily be exempted from customs duties, remains unchanged. The customs duties will not increase for these goods, and the duties applied in Armenia will be charged. These products are primarily the socially important goods such as sugar, rice, meat, medication, vehicles, etc.

“If someone raises the question of changing the list in the future, this will require processing a decision which will be ratified in the parliaments of the [EEU] member states. As you understand, this is practically unlikely to happen; that’s why the rules of the game of the Armenian business will not change,” Karayan noted.
