Armenian Deputy Patriarch of Constantinople Archbishop Aram Ateshyan has been invited to the official reception on the occasion of the visit of Pope Francis to Turkey, editor of Istanbul-based Armenian daily told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Pope Francis arrived in Turkey on Friday to hold meetings with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.

“This is Pope's first visit to Turkey. In Istanbul it will continue on ecumenical level at the invitation of Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew,” Ara Kocunyan said.

In Ankara Pope is expected to meet with the officials and to attend official reception. On the same evening His Holiness will return to Istanbul.

The editor of Armenian newspaper said on Saturday Pope Francis will be received at the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople. However, taking into account health problems of Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan, Pope will visit him at Surb Prkich hospital where he will pray for Patriarch's health, Kocunyan added.
