YEREVAN. – According to official statistics, over three million Armenians will celebrate the New Year in Armenia. In line with these data, Armenia’s population was 3,013,900, as of October 1 of the current year.

Separately, Russia had conducted, in October 2013, a complete registration of foreign nationals. Accordingly, there were 492,300 citizens of Armenia in the country.

The Armenian National Statistical Service recently publicized the survey data on the households in Armenia. The period between 2010 and 2013 was studied, and the 15-and-over age group was selected.

The final data are as follows: There are 103,000 Armenian migrants who are not in the country for three or more months. A total of 45,000 of them are abroad for over a year.

Seasonal migrants, as a rule, leave their families in the homeland. But the existence of 51,200 Armenian citizens under 17 years of age in Russia assumes that numerous families of Armenian citizens have a more or less permanent residence in Russia. In all likelihood, there are about 25,000 such families, and it is possible that these Armenian citizens will celebrate the New Year abroad.
