Turkey has put new accents on its policy over Armenia over the recent weeks. Ankara is likely to open the border by this September, at least temporarily, said Richard Giragosian, the head of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) speaking at round-table discussions.

According to him, it will be Ankara’s response to Secretary Clinton’s visit to the region and a message to Washington for it not to ignore Turkey. “Definitely, Turkey’s new plans are not agreed with Azerbaijan. However, the major achievement of the Armenian diplomacy is that it smashed “one nation - two states” principle and Turkish-Azerbaijani duo. Not Robert, I mean ex-President Kocharyan, but Azerbaijan was really hit by Serzh Sargsyan’s football diplomacy,” he noted.

Yesterday the Turkish press spread interview by Kars Governor Ahmet Kara who said that Turkish Foreign Office ordered to provide information on the state of Armenian-Turkish border, land communication between the two countries. He added that the infrastructure will be restored within a month if the two sides reach an agreement.
