YEREVAN. – Armenia is in the best condition, as compared to its neighboring countries, when it comes to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) rulings against Armenia.

Armenia Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan, who is also the Armenian government’s authorized representative at the ECtHR, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s press conference.

As per Kostanyan, the aforementioned is owing to Armenia’s population, the peculiarities of its judicial system, and the duration of the existence of the institute of the Armenian government’s authorized representative at the ECtHR.

As for the financial side of these judgments, the attorney general of Armenia stressed: “Under the conditions of €12-million appeals at the ECtHR, we [, Armenia,] have recorded solely €500,000 in compensation.”

According to Gevorg Kostanyan, Armenia has not reached even the respective minimum limit, particularly in comparison with its neighboring countries.
