Political consultations on security, arms control and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction between Armenia and Russia were held in Moscow on December 17.

The Armenian delegation was led by the head of department on arms control and international security Samvel Mkrtchyan, and from the Russian side – director of the department of arms Control and non-proliferation M.Ulyanov.

The parties discussed in detail the situation in the field, issues related to the Arms Trade Treaty, the forthcoming summit to revise the agreement on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction that will be held next year, nuclear disarmament and creation of nuclear-free zones.

The parties referred to negotiations over Iran's nuclear program. They noted with satisfaction the expansion of cooperation in different areas and outlined new areas of cooperation.
