YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Urban Development of Armenia will resolve, by no later than the end of 2016, the housing issue in the 1988 earthquake-hit zone.

Urban Development Minister Narek Sargsyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

Overall, as per Sargsyan, a total of 854 families—430 of whom are from Gyumri city—of the 5,335 families are still in the queue to receive apartments.

In November 2014, a total of 215 of the aforementioned families have received apartment-purchase certificates, and the rest will get them next year.

The remaining close to 420 families live in the villages of the Shirak and Lori Regions, and they will receive housing by the end of 2016.
