YEREVAN. – The importers of gasoline to Armenia do not deceive the state agencies.

The Chairman of the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (ASCPEC), Artak Shaboyan, told the aforementioned to reporters on Thursday.

He noted that the import prices of the gasoline importers do not differ from the prices of buying oil products from Russia plus the transfer fee. The Russian state agencies issue statistics on the export of oil products.

“This enables the [abovementioned Armenian] state commission to check the importers’ data. We see that they have not permitted unfounded price increases,” Shaboyan noted.

And to the query as to why Armenia’s major importers continue purchasing gasoline from Russia, the ASCPEC chief stated that such a strategically important product is imported on the basis of long-term contracts.

“That’s why the strategic partners cannot be changed right away in a short time,” Artak Shaboyan added.
