YEREVAN. – Armenia’s relations with the European Union (EU) depend on what will be the processes taking place in Russia, opposition Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan stated at a press conference on Monday.

In her view, it is beneficial for Armenia that Russia experiences political events which will enable the Russian people to live in a democratic country, and not under an authoritarian regime.

“And if democratic laws work there, our [, Armenia’s,] chances of communicating on equal terms with the civilized world will expand. But if the authoritarian regime gets stronger, someone—in this case, Russia—makes decision in our stead.

“We want to develop as a free and independent state, yet the recent processes suggest neither a free nor an independent state,” Postanjyan stressed, in particular.
