YEREVAN. – Without an unbiased criticism, stagnation and mistakes are inevitable. Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan stated the aforesaid while hosting Monday’s reception for the country’s media representatives, and on the occasion of the coming New Year and Armenian Christmas holidays.

“Together we carry out one common work because we have a common goal and dream: to have a righteous, developing and democratic state, [and] to build a prosperous society.

“Exclusively and solely true, fair and factual information, analysis, and assessment can form public opinion.

“The Fourth Estate [i.e., the news media] is one of the most important achievements of our newly independent country.

“Freedom of speech is an absolute value, and strong is a state that has a righteous Fourth Estate,” Abrahamyan specifically stated in his congratulatory address to those in attendance to the event.

In addition, several Armenian media representatives were awarded with the PM’s souvenir, a nominal watch, in recognition of their active and productive cooperation with the government. In addition, they were encouraged with the Premier’s certificate of appreciation for their constant coverage of the government activities and active cooperation with the Government of Armenia.
