YEREVAN. – Valery Permyakov, the suspect in Monday’s killing of the members of a family in Armenia’s Gyumri city, is still in Armenia, and his transfer to Russia will not be so soon.

A source close to the law enforcement system told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The 48 hours of Permyakov’s detention period will end on Wednesday, and therefore his restraining order needs to be decided on. He is currently kept under enhanced supervision at the Russian military base in Gyumri. 

The two cases, which have been filed against him, are expected to be joined. The investigation of the murder case will be conducted in Armenia, and therefore Permyakov will remain in the country to take part in the investigative operations, research, etc.

Six members of the Avetisyan family were shot dead and the six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Gyumri on Monday. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the city’s Russian 102nd Military Base, is the main suspect in this crime. Permyakov was later apprehended near the Armenian-Turkish border.
