The Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan, Alexander Mishchenko, has made some interesting statements, Haqqin.az of Azerbaijan reported.

Among other matters, the Ukrainian diplomat also reflected on the recent Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) voting, as a result of which the Russian delegation to the PACE was temporarily revoked of its right to vote.

“Azerbaijan and Armenia defended Russia at the PACE. Why? Moreover, the Armenian diplomats abstained [from voting] displaying a more diplomatic position.

“Azerbaijan always complains about the double standards. (…) [But] I’m reassured solely by the fact that Azerbaijan will agree to support any resolution on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“Tales are told that there should remain a platform for [peace] talks. In that case, let’s forget about the seven regions contiguous to Karabakh. But we [, Ukraine,] don’t say something like that to you [, Azerbaijan],” the Ukrainian ambassador noted.

Mishchenko added, however, that he does not understand what benefit Azerbaijan would have by voting against Ukraine at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
