YEREVAN. – It is difficult to expect a good thing from the project to build a new road from Russia to Georgia, Georgian opposition MP David Darchiashvili told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We are in the negative to everything which is related to the Russian state plans with respect to South and North Caucasus.

“Sure, it sounds reasonable that the more open roads there are the better. But sometimes these roads are opened for military transportation—and not solely transportation—measures.

“We, however, have a kind of track-record of relations with Russia that we don’t expect anything good,” Darchiashvili stated.

To note, Georgia and Russia held talks in October 2014 in the Czech Republic capital city of Prague, during which the parties also discussed the matter of modernizing the motorway stretching between Georgia and the Republic of Dagestan, which is a federal subject of Russia.
