YEREVAN. – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, on Wednesday met with the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

Nalbandian underscored the Armenia-European Union (EU) high-level meetings, and stressed that these talks contribute to the promotion of the bilateral agenda and the expansion of cooperation.

Commissioner Hahn, for his part, noted that this is his first visit to Armenia, and expressed the hope that the visit will give new impetus to collaboration.

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on the formation of a new legal framework in Armenia-EU relations. Minister Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to continue deepening the cooperation with the EU.

The parties also highlighted the EU-Armenia visa facilitation and readmission agreements which entered into force in January 2014, and which pave the way to the talks on visa regime liberalization.

Separately, Nalbandian thanked for the EU’s continued assistance in Armenia’s ongoing reforms.

In the context of discussing regional matters, Commissioner Hahn informed about the EU support to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’ efforts to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
