Close to 5.5 million tourists visited Georgia in 2014, said Giorgi Chogovadze, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

“It is important for us today to develop the cultural tourism, present the traditions and legends of Georgia,” he added.

As per Chogovadze, a total of 5,493,492 people visited Georgia last year, and they expect more visitors in 2015, since several large-scale events, including the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Super Cup final, will be held in Georgia this year.

The ex-USSR countries—including Armenia—, whose people are better informed about Georgia, are especially considered full of promise in terms of developing the country’s tourism.
