The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople will not be joining the worldwide Armenian church events to be held on April 23, and devoted to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

Archbishop Aram Atesyan, the General Vicar of the Patriarchate, announced that even though an event will be held on April 24, the bells of the Armenian churches in Turkey will not be ringing 100 times on April 23 at 19։15 (7:15pm), reported Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul.

On April 22, however, the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople will be offering a requiem mass at the Armenian churches in Turkey, and in memory of the victims of the Battle of Gallipoli.
