Stepanakert is against double standards. It is time for Armenia to launch the process of recognizing the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), Armen Sargsyan, the head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) faction, NKR Parliament, told reporters.

According to him, the Armenian and NKR Parliament had reached an arrangement that Armenia would recognize Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence at the first opportunity. "In 1994, Armenia missed a chance to recognize the NKR’s independence. The verdict returned by the International Court of Justice in The Hague is the political opportunity for Armenia to recognize the NKR," Sargsyan said.

The ICJ ruled on July 22 that the Kosovo authorities’ decision to declare independence in 2008 did not violate international law. The ICJ verdict has no binding force. However, experts and politicians are sure the verdict will have political consequences.

Armenia has not yet recognized the NKR’s independence.
