The verdict by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is one more step toward the international recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh, Armen Sargsyan, Chairman of the ARF faction, NKR Parliament, told reporters.

Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Vahram Atanesyan pointed out that the ICJ verdict can be viewed as an opportunity of the NKR being recognized as an international entity. "The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic can more aggressively demand its participation in the peace talks," Atanesyan said.

The ICJ ruled on July 22 that the Kosovo authorities’ decision to declare independence in 2008 did not violate international law. The ICJ verdict has no binding force. However, experts and politicians are sure the verdict will have political consequences.
