YEREVAN. – Although USAID strategic priorities in Armenia remain the same, but the projects carried out in this directions will be cut, USAID Armenia Mission Director Karen Hilliard said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Ms. Hilliard once again assured that the priorities set in accordance with the USAID strategy in 2013 remain unchanged.

The priorities refer to the rural development with the focus on border villages, development of tourism, projects on water resources and initiatives on energy independence of the country. The last priority is development of human capital, namely projects targeted at development of work force in Armenia. In addition, USAID will continue reforms on territorial administration and local self-governance.

“We have also joined a number of diplomatic missions to support anti-corruption initiatives,” she said, adding that USAID will try to work more effectively with reduced funding.
