YEREVAN. – Reduction of programs in Armenia is not due to any political changes in the region, it is related to the overall situation in the context of budget cuts, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills said.

Speaking about cutting of programs for reconciliation between Armenia and Turkey, as well as Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Ambassador stressed that reconciliation between Armenians and Turks, Armenians and Azerbaijanis remains a priority for the United States.

“We will continue programs in the field of culture and education in order to promote cross-cultural relations, which will finally lead to better relations. We will continue to focus on these areas, only the number of programs will be reduced,” Ambassador assured.

USAID Mission Director Karen Hilliard in turn said they are absolutely not disappointed with the programs implemented in Armenia.

“USAID programs in Armenia can serve as an example. We are pleased with the results of our programs, and I want to say that I feel very proud of my team for their achievements during their stay here,” she added.
