YEREVAN. – A criminal case has opened in connection with Friday’s crash of a military truck which was carrying soldiers, and which fell into a canyon in Armenia’s Lori Province.

The press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that that the criminal case is instituted pursuant to the Criminal Code article on violating the rules of driving or operating machinery.

As reported earlier, the aforesaid military truck had rolled over at the Spitak city bends and fallen into a canyon. The driver of the truck, conscript Artyom Tovmasyan (born in 1995), had died as a result of injuries he had sustained in the accident. Nine other soldiers were injured in the incident, and all of them have been transported from the Spitak hospital to the Armenian Ministry of Defense Central Clinical Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan.
